Short Description:
Endless Web is an experimental 2D platformer that explores how to deeply integrate procedural content generation into both game mechanics and aesthetics.

Overview

Endless Web is an experimental 2D platformer that explores how to deeply integrate procedural content generation into both game mechanics and aesthetics, such that the player must strategize around the PCG system. The player explores an infinite world that is procedurally generated as the player moves through the game, shifting according to the choices that the player makes. In Endless Web, players must search through the generative, rather than physical, space of the game in order to complete their objectives.

Short Description:
A social simulation game about the interpersonal lives of a group of high school students in the week leading up to their prom.

Overview

Prom Week is a next-generation social simulation game driven by a novel artificial intelligence engine. The goal of Prom Week is to make social interactions truly playable. While games have increasingly gotten better at physical simulation, social interactions in games still tend to be scripted, using dialogue trees or other static structures to represent in-game choice.

Short Description:
Almost Goodbye is an experiment in minimalist procedural content generation for interactive narratives.

Overview

Almost Goodbye is an experiment in minimalist procedural content generation for interactive narratives. It does not try to generate a whole story or plot points from scratch, but instead asks what is the minimum amount of procedural generation that can be added to a hand-authored story to produce something both computationally interesting but still narratively sound.

Short Description:
A suite of powerful design automation tools that aim to provide a designer-in-the-box for use in a deeply generative and adaptive sequel to the original game.

Overview

Refraction is an online puzzle game for teaching fractions developed by the Center for Game Science at the University of Washington. In the game, the player builds a network of devices that split and recombine lasers (dividing and adding their fractional power levels) in order to power disabled spaceships and save the animals inside. Along with the mathematical challenge of each level, the player must use devices to bend lasers around obstacles and to form the right beams from the right directions.
