As of recently, universities have been implementing game design programs into their curriculum and leaders of the industry have been taking positions as professors. Then the question arises, can great game design be taught? Professors such as UCSC's Brenda Romero, Denius-Sams gaming academy's Warren Spector, and USC's Richard Lemarchand attempt to answer this question. Ultimately they collectively conclude that taking the game design program at a university reinforces one's fundemental ability to create games and help improves the toolbox students need for making games.
