Location: Engineering 2, Room 180 (The Simularium)
Hi there! The 2013 Global Game Jam at UCSC will be kicking off this month! On January 25 at 4pm in the Simularium we'll start with our local keynote speaker: Stone Librande! Stone is creative director at EA/Maxis and has talked here about one page designs. We're hoping he'll be focusing on his personal gift games for this talk, good inspiration for a game jam. Thanks to Kate Compton for bringing in our speaker.
The Global Game Jam is a 48 hour game jam which takes place at sites all over the world. Make a digital or board/physical/whatever game on your own or on a team. The focus is on innovation over polish. There will be a theme announced and there are plenty of achievements for meeting design challenges.
If you haven't already registered and you're going to be jamming, head over to www.globalgamejam.org to create/login to your account, and set UCSC as your jam site. That's it! Registration is going to be limited, but there's still space. Registration is not needed if you're only going to the keynotes. Our local webpage for the event is: http://ggj.soe.ucsc.edu/
