The Computational Cinematics Studio at the University of California, Santa Cruz explores the link between computing and cinema. As a research group we are interested in studying how to represent a movie director's intent and a cinematographer's communicative skills in a computational model. We strive to build playable experiences that investigate our research designs and are rigorously validated through user studies. Our work intersects gameplay, with projects that focus on procedural animation, game commentating, and bettering AI for automatic camera composition. Want to know more about current projects?
